How do I get on the Ballot?

The Clerk of the Town of Bass Lake is the filing officer.  All completed candidacy forms must be filed with the Clerk.  The Town of Bass Lake utilizes nomination papers in order for a candidate's name to appear on the ballot.  For local Town elections, at least 20-100 signatures on nomination papers are required.  A Declaration of Candidacy form and a Campaign Finance Registration Statement (required even if candidate does not have a campaign committee) are also required to be filed with the Clerk in order to appear on the ballot.  Municipal seats up for election in the April 7, 2026 Spring Election are  Town Supervisor (vote for 2).  Town Electors (voters) may sign 2 candidate's nomination papers since there are 2 seats up for election, but may not sign more than 2.  All candidate required forms and instructions are included in the candidate packet below.
Below are the filing deadlines for the April 7, 2026 Spring Election:
  • December 1, 2025:  first day to circulate nomination papers
  • January 6, 2026 no later than 5:00 PM:  file Nomination Papers, Declaration of Candidacy form and Campaign Finance Registration Statement with Town Clerk
