PERMITS AND LICENSING
Building Permit
Building permit fee is $100.00.
Town of Bass Lake building permits are issued AFTER applicant submits a land use permit through Sawyer County. Please refer to the Sawyer County Zoning process for LAND USE PERMITS. More information can be found on the Sawyer County Zoning & Conservation page.

Driveway Permit
Driveway permit fee is $50.00.

Dog License
If you own a dog that is 5 months or older and reside in Sawyer County more than 30 days, your dog is required by law to have an annual Sawyer County dog license. Licenses must be purchased no later than March 31st to avoid late fees. Owner must provide the following:
Spayed/Neutered = $10.00 per dog
NOT Spayed/Neutered = $15.00 per dog
- Current Rabies Certificate - ORIGINAL rabies certificate is required and will be returned in an owner provided self addressed stamped envelope. All license requests not accompanied by a return envelope will be held at the town hall for pick up. Licenses not accompanied by rabies certificate will not be process per Sawyer County Ordnance.

Spayed/Neutered = $10.00 per dog
NOT Spayed/Neutered = $15.00 per dog
Operator's (bartender) License
Town-issued operator's licenses are $30.00/each for a new or renewal license plus $10.00/each for a background check. Each applicant (new or renewal) is required to have a background check. Town-issued operator's licenses can only be used within the Town of Bass Lake. You must include a copy of your training course certificate with your application, unless you hold a current operator's license within the past 2 years. Licenses expired over 2 years will require you to take an approved responsible beverage server training course.
Applicants for operators licenses and permits must meet the following qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age when license is issued
- Subject to WI Fair Employment Law, ch. 111, Wis. Stats., applicant must not have been convicted of a felony or be a habitual law offender
- Successfully completed an approved responsible beverage server training course.
Effective January 1, 2025 state-issued operator's permits are available through the Wisconsin Department of Revenue Alcohol Beverage division. The application is online only and the cost is $200.00 every 2-years. The state-issued operator's permit can be used in any municipality within Wisconsin.
Applicants are not required to have both the town-issued operators license and the state-issued operators permit. Only one is required.
Liquor Licenses
Current liquor licenses expire every year on June 30th. Applications for initial issuance and renewal retail alcohol beverage licenses must be received by the clerk 15 days prior to the board granting the license. Applications are approved at the June Town Board meeting (second Monday in June). State statues require applications for Class "A" beer and/or liquor, Class "B" beer and/or liquor and Class "C" wine be published.
